Society only shows what's beautiful. Society only shows life and pleasure. We don't have a connection to death. You end up having this false perception that you have unlimited time.
We have this fear of thinking about our inevitable destination which is death itself. You fall into a hypnosis thinking that you'll live forever.
What happens when you do that is you take your life for granted. You don't know what really matters. You need to know that you are able to die.
We usually think we are immune to the inevitable nature of life. This is especially true when we are young.
A lot of this delusion comes from the suppression of death. This is responsible for a lot of people’s laziness.
There's nothing in this world that can give you more life than the realization that you're going to die. You think you'll always have tomorrow. When you think that you have tomorrow, you will say ‘I'll do it tomorrow.’
Find a way to recreate that experience of death. People who have had a near-death experience with tell you how much that has changed their life. When that kind of thing happens to, you can never be the same again.
When it happens to you, you realize how asleep you were.
When you realize you're about to die, you accept it. You'll begin to live. That's when you begin to appreciate the things that you under appreciate. The one thing that we don't appreciate is the cycle of death.
Robert Greene, in his book ‘Laws of human nature,’ says that you shouldn't think about dying as a separation between you and your loved ones. You should see it as joining the brotherhood of consciousness. Those who are not denying the reality of death with smile and it.
Meditate on how you're going to die. meditate on how your life is going to end. Imagine all the different ways you could die and try feeling it. You have to make it visceral.
