This is a segment from one of my favorite books. Robert Greene talks about noticing when you were a child. What thing that you did was repetitive and obsessive? He says to connect with that and do it again. That's going to spark a momentum almost like a chain of events that will lead you to an inevitable destination. It's a destination that’s congruent with your character and your DNA.
For me, one of them was spirituality and another one is drawing. When I used to draw, time would fly like crazy. When I began drawing again in the past month, my focus has been like laser. All of the pent-up energy that was scattered to useless thinking and moments of sadness has gone into drawing.
It's like it was meant to be. If you don't express this inner force, you're going to feel that there's something missing in your life.
Greene talks about doing certain things using a force that seems to come from outside of us. I can relate to this when I make videos. Sometimes, I ask myself if what I created made any sense. I feel like what guided my words is an emotion and it's being transcribed into language. When this happens, it doesn't feel like I'm the one working. I look back at some of my videos and think that I don't remember saying some parts.
When you let an inner force guide you, you start to get curious with other things. When you're following your path in life, you don't become close-minded. You don't stick with the same patterns. You continually adapt to your environment.
The people who follow their path keep seeing improvement. This comes from their desire to continually learn from their environment.
What will kill your inner desire to grow is listening to other people. As you grow, you tend to want to fit in with the group and try to be like other people. You're going to feel comfortable temporarily, but deep down you’ll feel that you missed out. You’ll feel that you're not living your life to its fullest potential. You'll see other people doing things and think to yourself ‘that could have been me.’ You feel jealousy and envy.
However, if you're following your purpose, there is no space for envy. There is no space for jealousy because you are completely satisfied with what you are expressing.
