A lot of people have a nearsighted vision where they're so consumed by desires. They're so caught up in the past because of past victories, failures, and unnecessary attachments. They fail to look into the most important aspect of life which is anticipating events and planning for them.
Being able to look deeply into the future, and create a plan allows you to avoid manipulations and lets you get what you want in life without that much bloodshed.
The ability to use your rational mind is required for you to look into the future.
People struggle to look into the future because they trust appearances. It takes a lot of effort for us to look underneath the surface of things. Due to that, we assume that things will always be the way they are.
However, if you get in the habit of questioning reality, you'll notice that there's an impermanence of things. Things don't stay the way they are. They're not static.
If you look closely into the facts of life, you'll see a very malleable structure that you could change with your intention.
People also struggle with stagnation and fear of the unknown. They fear looking into the future because they might see that they have an uphill climb.
Another thing that causes people to not look into the future is a lack of connection to the moment through attachment to past victories and failures. Just because something worked in the past doesn't mean that it's going to work in the future.
People are afraid to do something new because it requires a certain learning curve. Rather than having to formulate new patterns of thinking, they choose to stick with the old. They stuck with what worked.
They may have failed in the past which made them associate planning for their lives as a negative and painful thing.
What are the keys to look into the future?
1. See the world through different lenses to make up for your blind spots. See yourself through other people's eyes. Begin to widen your vision of the world.
When you look at politicians, see what they see. When somebody rejects you, see the way they see you. How could they possibly see you in such a way that causes them to say no to you. See the world through their eyes.
This new perspective will give you more information into the terrain you’re battling in. It allows you to see the future more clearly. Your vision isn't narrowed anymore.
2. Know the terrain from all angles before formulating an end goal. Know all your resources. Get as much perspective as you can.
Once you do that, you must learn to relax in the midst of chaos. Chaos are not random events. They are a set of patterns you haven't really noticed.
When bad things happen in your life, don't allow the chaos to blind your vision. Remain present and consistently ask yourself what's going on.
Get in the habit of analyzing chaos.
3. Think deeply about what you currently have. Think deeply about your strengths, your weaknesses, and your resources. Don't focus on what you don't have.
Learn how to creatively use what you have.
If you want to start a YouTube channel, but you don't have a good camera, focus on the camera that you have. Learn to use what you have.
There is something inherently good with learning to use what you have. It expands the way you think.
What's going to happen through this process is that your goals are going to transform you.
