What is the subconscious mind? “Think of the subconscious mind as the storage room of everything that is currently not in your conscious mind. The subconscious mind stores all of your previous life experiences, your beliefs, your memories, your skills, all situations you've been through and all images you've ever seen.” - link: What is the subconscious mind? | 2KnowMySelf
What does it mean to be locked in your mind? Identified with every thought and emotion, feeling like you can’t change your life and feeling like you’ll always be the way you are.
Why unlock it? You get control of your mind, and thus how you act.
Your subconscious mind is what an athlete trains when practicing. It trains to have a still mind when being defended. His subconscious mind stays relaxed because you practiced this situation a lot. Repetition is a way to communicate, but a more effective way is through the back door.
The back door to our subconscious mind is the use of images, visualization and in this case, the self image.
But if you don’t create space, then you’ll become consumed with your self image, and that’s why the secret ingredient is remaining grounded in the present moment. I’ll explain more in a few.
How most people try to change: Willpower and thought
-They try to change with effort and with conscious commands. How does one communicate with the subconscious mind? Through images. Want to produce saliva? Think of a lemon. Want to get an erection as a guy? Imagine a banging ass girl. This is how you send a signal to your subconscious mind to control an automatic mechanism that’s not controlled by conscious thinking.
For example, athletes use their self image to motivate them to get better at basketball. They SEE themselves as great NBA players and that gives them the motivation to practice more. There’s no effort. This is unconscious because they just so happen to love basketball. Their inside will match the outside but they are victims because once they retire they will have a gap in identity. In our case, I want you guys to USE your mind and be able to go from identity to identity without a break in continuity.
Another thing is that you won’t be able to use your subconscious mind if you’re always going with whatever arises in your thoughts. You let your mind control you. You must first get control of your conscious mind.
So images are how you control your subconscious mind and how you’re going to think, but you must first create space through emptying your mind. You’ll then be able to recognize your unconscious patterns and your reactions. That’s the key. Observe.
1. Learn to observe your thoughts and emotions in order become the observer. This allows you to see the things that arise in consciousness, including your subconscious.
You might fall and mess up, but even at the low points, wake up and notice what’s going on. The more you bring awareness to moments of pain, the more you become aware of your automatic responses that usually remain unconscious.
After that, you begin noticing that your thoughts and emotions and actions are controlled by your VIVID THOUGHTS AND IMAGES and the unconscious thoughts, storylines and images, and emotions that arise but they are so fast that they just cause you to react. The key is to be aware during those moments. It’s like having a hand on the camera trigger always waiting for the next thing to arise.
That’s unlocking it and seeing it now, but what’s the point of unlocking without using what's inside?
We discuss this in greater detail in my course.... click here.
