Men Don’t Open Up Emotionally, Until You Do This – FT Mark Rosenfeld

We’re going to talk about why men can’t open up emotionally.

Testosterone and MIS are prepping boys for their teenage years. Teenage boys create social hierarchy in different ways than girls. A lot of boys hierarchy is built through physical dominance, physical aggression, competition, sports, mental ability and exploratory type pursuing behavior.

The number one enemy of this hierarchy is emotional weakness. Men are training themselves for five to eight years learning having subtle cues that emotions could seriously dip me down the male hierarchy. Our dna on the stand is always trying to dominate. Bottomline is even though men react, they’ve learned over time to bring that reaction down. If your partner opens up to you:

  1. Hold space & accept his vulnerability display
  2. Encourage young men to access emotions when appropriate
